How to Customize the Google Chrome Browser

Most of us prefer the Google Chrome browser because it provides stable performance and syncs well with the Google account. Do you know Google Chrome is fully customizable? We hardly ever customize the browser when it comes to customization.

Here, I’ll show you the most intriguing customization options that will change your Google Chrome experience.

1. Customize Google Chrome Appearance

Now, if you want to customize Google Chrome’s appearance by adding background wallpaper and adding a shortcut on the home screen, then follow the below steps:

Step 1: To change the appearance of the Google Chrome browser, click on the “Customize Chrome” option at the bottom right corner.

Step 2: To change the background. Click on the “Background” tab and choose the image you want to apply as the background on Chrome.

Step 3: Similarly, if you want to customize the shortcut. That appears on Google Chrome’s home screen. Then click on the “Shortcut” tab to customize the option.

Note:- If you want to hide the shortcuts from Google Chrome’s home screen, then turn on the toggle next to the “Hide shortcuts” option.

Step 4: To change the theme color, click on the “Color and theme” option and choose the color. Once done, click on the “Done” button.

If you are not satisfied with these options, you can download themes from the Chrome Web Store.

2. Add Themes

If you are bored with the default white theme, then you can change the Google Chrome theme. To do so, follow the following steps:

Step 1: Open the Google Chrome browser, then click on three dots to open the context menu.

Step 2: Click on the “Settings” option. Or else, you can enter this chrome://settings/ on your Google Chrome browser address bar to open the settings page.

Step 3:  Now, look for the “Appearance” tab. Here you’ll find the “Theme” option. Just click on themes, and it will redirect you to the theme store.

Step 4: On the theme store, there are plenty of themes you can choose from, pick the theme you want to use on Google Chrome. Then click on “Add to Chrome.”

Step 5: If you want to go back to the default theme. Go to Settings > Appearance > Themes and click on the “Restore to Default” option.

3. Customize Fonts

If you want to customize the default font style, size and font family on your Google Chrome browser, then you can do it. 

Step 1: To change, navigate to “Settings” and look for “Appearance.” 

Step 2: Under the Appperarnace section, you will find an option called “Customize fonts“. Just click on it.

Step 3: Here you will find an option to customize fonts. Use the options to change your default font style, size and font family.

4. Change the Default Search Engine

Google Chrome comes with a default Google search engine. Do you know there are other search engines too? Yahoo, Bing and DuckDuckGo are some of the popular search engines. If you want to try one of these search engines, make them a default search. 

To change the default search engine in Google Chrome Browser. Navigate to “Settings” and look for “Search engine.” Under the Search engine section, you will find an option called “Search engine used in the address bar.” From the drop-down menu, select your preferred search engine.

5. Add extensions

If you want to enhance the browsing experience, you can add extensions. It helps to improve functionality, usability, privacy, and productivity.
