Windows is infamous for adding extra unnecessary apps and programs to your PC that you will probably never use. These extra apps and programs are known as bloatware. As you know, unnecessary apps and programs continuously consume resources, making your computer slower than it should be. If you are using Windows 11 and are tired of all the bloatware annoying you, you are in the right place.

Debloating refers to the process of removing and clearing unnecessary apps, services, and processes from Windows 11 computers. Ways to Debloat Windows 11 to Improve Performance

If you’re frustrated with the bloatware on your Windows 11 PC and want to delete or remove unnecessary apps and programs, then you’re in the right place. We have tested all the methods, and they work perfectly on our system.

However, before proceeding to the steps, make sure to create a system restore point. If anything goes wrong, you can restore your system back to normal.

1. Using Windows Settings

The simplest way to debloat your Windows 11 system is by uninstalling unnecessary apps and programs that you no longer use. These apps can slow down the performance of the system by running in the background and consuming battery life.

Follow the steps below to uninstall apps or programs using Windows Settings on your Windows 11 PC:

1. Press Windows + I key simultaneously on the keyboard to launch Settings app immediately.

2. Click on Apps on the left-hand side and choose Installed apps.

3. Navigate to the apps that you’re not using, or you find unhelpful.

4. Click on the three-dot next to the app that you want to delete. Then, select the Uninstall button.

5. Click on Uninstall again to confirm the action.

6. Follow the same procedure with other apps that you want to remove.

2. Using Windows PowerShell

You can also use Windows PowerShell to uninstall bloatware or unnecessary programs and apps that you find unhelpful on your Windows 11 PC. This will improve the performance of your computer, providing you with a smoother experience.

Here’s how you can use the Windows PowerShell feature to remove bloatware:

1. Click on the Start Menu button.

2. In the Windows Search bar, type in Windows PowerShell and click on Run as Administrator.

3. Under the User Account Control (UAC) window, click Yes to proceed further.

4. Now, enter the below command in the command prompt and hit Enter.

5. Now you will be directed to Debloat Windows 11 section.

6. Under the Bloatware Windows 11 section, select the option that you want to remove from your Windows 11 computer.

7. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the removal process.

3. Using Third-Party Software

If you don’t want to follow the above steps to remove bloatware, then you can use the third-party software to remove bloatware from Windows 11. Here’s how you can use GitHub third-party tool to debloat Windows 11 to improve the overall performance.

1. Head over to the ThisIsWin11 GitHub page.

2. Scroll down and select the T1W11.zip file to download the file.

3. Once the file is downloaded, then double-click on the ThisIsWin11 file.

4. Now, click on the Extract all button.

5. Choose the destination and extract files and click on the Extract button.

6. Once the file has been uncompressed then look for the ThisIsWin11 file and double-click on it.

7. Under the User Account Control (UAC) window, click Yes to proceed with the file runway.

8. Now click on the hamburger icon at the top left corner and select Apps. Here, you will see the app’s list.

9. Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard and select the app’s you wish to remove.

10. Then, click on the Move selected> button to move the apps to the recycle bin. Alternatively, you can remove all apps by clicking on the Move all options. However, it is not advisable.

11. If you want to remove System apps including those apps that Windows won’t allow you to uninstall, click on the Show system apps to reveal them.

12. Hold the Ctrl key on the keyboard to select the multiple apps that you’d like to remove.

13. Then, click on the Move selected> button on the screen.

14. Click on the EMPTY BIN at the bottom right side to remove the apps from the recycle bin.

15. Finally, click on Yes to confirm the delete process.

4. Via DISM Tool

There are also other methods to debloat your Windows 11 system using Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) to improve the performance of your computer. Here’s how:

1. Navigate to Windows Search menu by pressing the Windows key.

2. In the Windows Search bar, type in Windows PowerShell and click on Run as Administrator.

3. Under the User Account Control (UAC) window, click Yes to proceed further.

4. Then, enter the below command in the command prompt and hit Enter.

5. Now the script will show you all the programs and applications on the screen.

6. Manually locate the app that you’d like to remove from your computer.

7. Once you locate the app then copy it by pressing Ctrl + C shortcuts key on the keyboard.

8. Then, enter the below command in the prompt window:

9. Make sure to copy and enter the package name you want to remove after the command text. For instance, we used Microsoft Zune Video. Make sure to replace the file you that you wish to remove.

10. Click Enter to completely remove the app you’d like to delete from the Windows 11 PC.

Note

You have to replace the package name each time you remove an individual program using the DISM tool on your Windows 11 PC. Without replacing the package name, you will not be able to remove the app from your Windows 11 PC.
