Install Chrome OS on Your PC

Google’s Chrome OS is based on an open-source project that is Chromium OS. Chromium OS is open for all. You can copy, modify and use it any way you want. Hence, you can have a Chrome os like experience on your existing computer. All is needed is to download Chromium OS.

Neverware is a company that has made the installation quite easy. It has taken the base code from Chromium OS and added its code to create Neverware CloudReady. Usually, Neverware sells it to the school and business sector. It also comes with a free version of CloudReady for home users.

In this section, we have shared an article on how to install Chrome OS on your PC. All you need is to follow some steps. So, here we go:

1.Chrome OS Installation on a USB Drive

First, you need to install CloudReady in your USB device. It is a modified Chromium OS that can work on your existing PC. You are going to need an 8GB or 16 GB USB drive. So, here we go:

Step 1: Go to the Neverware website and scroll down to click on “Install Home Edition”.

Step 2: Now click on “Download USB Maker”.

Note:- Once you are done with downloading, you need to create the USB installer for CloudReady. For this, you need an 8 GB or 16 GB USB stick. While using the USB stick, you may lose all your data stored in it. So, do not forget to back up before using the USB stick.

Step 3: Now run the downloaded CloudReady USB Maker and tap Next. After that, Select 64 bit and click Next.

Step 4: Insert the USB stick on your computer and select Next. Now select the USB device you want to use and click on Next.

Step 5: Now, wait for the installation to complete and click Finish.

2. Run Chrome OS on Your Computer

Once the installation is done, you can try it out. Simply turn your computer off. After that, insert the CloudReady installation USB and turn on the computer. If your computer does not boot up Cloudready automatically, you need to change the boot order.

You need to follow some steps to run the Chrome OS from a USB stick. So, here we go

Step 1: Insert the CloudReady installation USB on your computer and turn on your computer. Now wait for the Welcome screen and click “Let’s go”.

If you do not want to replace the existing operating system with CloudReady, leave the USB stick attached to your computer. So, when you will turn your computer on, it will boot CloudReady instead of the original operating system.

3. Install Chrome Os permanently Via CloudReady

If you want to install CloudReady permanently on your computer, you will lose all your existing files. So, before you go for installation, back up everything in an external hard drive.

Step 1: Insert the cloud-ready USB stick and turn on your computer. Wait until your computer boot up CloudReady.

Step 2: Next, click the user icon on the lower right corner and click on Install CloudReady.

Step 3: Now click Install CloudReady again and accept the terms and conditions. Now, wait for the installation to finish. Once done, turn off your computer and remove the USB stick. Next time, when you will switch on the computer, it will boot into CloudReady.

Hope you have found it helpful. Now you can have experience Chrome Os without getting Chrome book. Do not forget to try this out today.
