How to Run Android on Linux Using a Virtual Machine?

You can boot up the Android on any Operating System with Android- x86’s ISO image, no matter whether it’s Windows or Linux. Apart from this, on the Linux machine, you can even install as well as run any Android games and apps. So, if you wish to run Android on a Linux machine, and don’t want to use the whole complete in order to complete the task, then you are advised to use a VirtualBox and run your Android.

Fortunately, the setup procedure is quite easy and quick to apply. These are the steps that provide you with the best Android experience within a flicker of time.

How to Run Android on Linux Using a Virtual Machine?

Before you begin, you need to have all the required tools. If you have these things, then within a very little time you can complete the setup procedure. 

  • Virtual Box: Make sure that you have VirtualBox. If not, then first you should download and install it on your device from a reliable source. 
  • Android x86 ISO: Besides, you will also need to download an Android x86 ISO to complete the setup. Also, ensure that Virtualization options are enabled on your computer’s BIOS. Or, 

Once, you make sure that you have the following things, then it’s time to create a Virtual Machine for your Android.

How to Create a Virtual Machine for Android

Once you have installed the VirtualBox on your Linux machine. Follow these steps to create a virtual machine for Android.

Step 1: Tap on the New option to create a new Virtual Machine. Give a name to the virtual machine and after that, choose the Linux type. For example, ‘Linux 3.x/ 2.6/ 4.x (32 bit)’. In addition, hit the Next button.

Step 2: Now, if you use a 32bit, you can use up to 2048MB. On the other hand, if you want to use a 64-bit build, you can use as much memory as you want. Hence, set the memory amount first, and after that hit on the Next button.

Step 3: To build the virtual machine, you just need to click on the Create option. For hard disk type, leave it set as VDI. Now, set the hard disk size as Dynamically Allocated. This will allow the Virtual Hard Disk to increase when needed.

Step 4: After that, select the amount of memory that you want to store on top of the Virtual Machine. Finally, click the Create button.

Setup Android Virtual Machine on Linux

Once you have created the Virtual Machine, then you should perform some additional tasks to grab the best performance when you run your Android on Linux Operating System. Follow the given points to complete the rest of the procedure.

Step 1: Open the Virtual box as well as tap on the System option. From there, proceed to the Processor tab and after that, you must set 2 CPU cores. We always suggest you set a 4 CPU processor to get the best result. 

Step 2: Afterward, head to the Acceleration section, and from the drop-down menu, select the KVM button.

Step 3: When done, simply switch to the Display tab. Under here, go to the bottom and you must change the Graphics Controller to VBoxSVGA.

Note:- Keep in mind, if you haven’t changed the Graphics Controller, you will see nothing on the display. Apart from this, it’s highly recommended to set up the Video Memory to 128 MB. 

Step 4: Then, proceed to the Storage section, and from the list of options choose the Empty sub-menu. Within the Empty sub-menu, you must tap on the Disc icon and after that, tick on the Choose a disk-file option. 

Step 5: Now, choose the Android ISO image that you have previously downloaded. The setup process is done. 

How to Run Android within Linux OS

Once you are done with the basic configuration, then it’s time to boot your Android within the Linux Operating System. To do so, follow these steps:

Step1: Move to the left column and choose the Android option. Thereafter, tap on the Start button. 

Step 2: Furthermore, head to the Advanced section. Under here, choose the ‘ Auto _ Installation’ option as well as press the Enter key. Then, you need to hit the Yes button and thereafter click on Enter. 

Step 3: Finally, the ‘ Run Android- x86’ option will pop-up on the display. After that, you should press the Enter key and within a few seconds, your Android will automatically start booting within the Linux system. 

Step 4: Besides, if you wish to remove the Android from the Linux OS, then what you have to do is to right-click on the Android Virtual Machine and select Remove from the context menu. 

Step 5: Furthermore, choose the Delete All Files button. After that, all the virtual hard drive files will be permanently removed from your device. 

Conclusion
