How to Set Custom Screen Resolution in Windows 10

The craze for high-resolution displays is increasing day by day from 720p, 1080p, 2K 4K, 5K, and now we also have 8K displays. However, a high-resolution display costs a lot, but want that high-resolution on your old display. Then here’s how you can set custom Screen resolution on windows 10.

There are also, some other people who might want to lower the resolution of their screen so that the games will perform better.

Things You Will Need to Set Custom Screen Resolution

To change the screen resolution of your windows 10 computer. You have to install some software. 

  1. NVIDIA Control Panel: It is a software that comes by default after you’ve installed an NVIDIA graphics card on your PC.
  2. Built-in AMD/Intel GPUs Software: It is a software that comes by default if you have integrated GPU on your system.

How to Set Custom Screen Resolution in Windows 10

Now, here we are going to discuss the methods to set custom screen resolution in windows 10.

1. Create Custom Resolutions Using NVIDIA Control Panel

Now if you are an NVIDIA user, open NVIDIA Control Panel. To open it right-click on the desktop and select NVIDIA Control Panel to open the software.

Once opened, create your custom resolution by following the steps below:

Step 1: Expand the “Display” option

Step 2: Click on “Change Resolution” and select the resolution from the scroll bar. Even you can change the refresh rate of your display from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Now to set the custom resolution of your choice click “Customize“. Now, a menu will pop up on the screen. Now type in your desired resolution in Horizontal Pixels and Desired Lines. If you’re aiming to create a custom QHD resolution (2560 x 1440).

And Click “Test” to check if the resolution change is working or not. If it does not work, you should be able to revert to your previous resolution.

Note:- Similarly you can use the Built-in AMD/Intel GPUs software.

2. Create Custom Resolutions Using Windows Settings

Now you can also change your screen resolution from the windows settings. For that follow these steps:

Step 1: Open “Settings“

Step 2: Select the “Display” option, there you will find the “Display Resolution” option, from the drop-down menu select your preferred resolution.

Step 3: Now here click on “Keep Changes“
