The name of the software is Paint.NET, don’t get confused with Windows paint. They are different software. Paint.NET offers all the basic and advanced image editing features for free.

What is Paint.Net?

Well, Paint.NET is a free and open-source imaging editing software for Windows computers and it is developed on the .NET framework. Initially, the software was released in 2004, and still, it is the most popular open-source photo editor.

Paint.NET has more than a million downloads. Do you know? Paint.NET is developed by only one person (Rick Brewster). Currently, he is the Owner, of dotPDN, L.L.C.

How to Install Paint.NET on Windows 11

Step 1: Go to getpaint.net and click on Get it now (free download).

Step 2: It will redirect you to the download page. There you’ll find two download options one from dotPDN (Which is free) and another one from Windows Store (Which is paid). Go with dotPDN because it’s free! Or Directly click on this link to download.

Note:- Both the software is the same.

Step 3: It will download a zip file, we have to extract it. After extracting you’ll find the paint.NET Downloader.

Step 4: Open the Paint.NET downloader and click on “Continue” to download all the required files.

Step 5: Now to select the installation type, “Express” is recommended. If you want to customize your installation then you can select “Custom” and select your language and click on “Next“.

Step 6: Now to install Paint.NET, you have to accept the license agreement, after that click on “Next“.

Step 7: On the next window, you will find an option to create a desktop shortcut. Here select the ‘Create a shortcut on the Desktop’ and ‘Automatically check for updates‘ option and click on ‘Next‘.

Step 8: If you had selected the “Custom” option, then you will get an option to select the installation location. If you want you can change your installation location or else you can keep it default and click on “Next“.

Step 7: Now the setup is ready to install Paint.NET on your computer, click on ‘Next‘ to start the installation.

Note:- It will take some time to optimize the software for windows hardware.
