With the changing technology, our needs are also improving. So, companies are battling hard to fulfill the customer’s needs as well as to attract more of them. The new Microsoft Edge browser is a new player in this field.
However, does it matter what kind of browser you are using? Yes, it does. You can have a better experience with a good browser. Hence, it is always good to know which browsers are the best?
New Microsoft Edge Browser
Microsoft has launched a new version of the Microsoft Edge browser on 15 Jan 2020. Microsoft has modified the edge using the open-source chromium project. Open source chromium is the same code base that Google chrome uses.
It is the third time Microsoft trying to build a better browser. In 1995, it released Internet explorer for the first that became the world’s popular browse. Internet explorer shared 95%of the market in 2003. After that, it lost its glory, and browsers like Firefox and Google chrome started to gain popularity.
In 2015, the company launched its second browser – Edge. However, it was only limited to Windows 10 users. Moreover, it has failed to serve what people wanted. Thus, it did not get much popularity.
According to the report of Statcounter (December 2019), Chrome had 69% of the worldwide browser market whereas edge had only 4.6% and internet explorer had 3.6%. It will be interesting to see whether a new edge can attract users or not.
Microsoft’s edge comes with AAD support, internet explorer mode for rendering and much more. Let’s look at some new features of edge:
1. Easy Set up
One can easily download Edge from the maker’s site. Within the next few months, the new browser will replace the existing Edge via windows update.
However, like other browsers, you can import favorites, browsing history, passwords, addresses from Chrome, Firefox, etc. Also, Microsoft has made the switching process quite easy.
You cannot port extensions automatically to the new edge. So, the users need to download extensions while moving to the new edge.
Since the Edge supports the same extensions as chrome, you can have your favorite extensions. So, extensions are quite easy to access.

3. Web Apps
Another new feature is that users can now install websites as native apps. Take Gmail as an example. Google has not developed any dedicated Gmail app for windows 10. But with Microsoft Edge, you can install the Gmail website as an app.
4. Tracking Prevention
In the digital world where privacy is a major issue, Edge’s tracking prevention feature is much appreciable. Microsoft’s edge has a tracking prevention feature built right in.
It comes with three levels of tracking prevention. Levels one allows most sites to track you. Level two will prevent trackers from sites you have not visited as well as block harmful trackers from known sites. Level three blocks most of the sites, unless the sites are permitted.
By default, the level of prevention is set on the second level. However, you can customize it. Users can add websites to block or exceptions list according to their choice.
The collection is another interesting feature of the new edge. This feature allows you to save stuff while browsing. In the collection panel, you can add current pages, drag images, and much more.
Not only that but you can also send collections to word or excel when you are done. So, it can assist in school projects, trip planning, and much more.
Hope you have liked the article and found it useful. Though the new Microsoft Edge comes with several new features, it also lacks a lot of old Edge features. Features like set tab aside, fluent design, timeline support, inking onto web pages are completely missing.
However, Microsoft’s effort to revive the old edge with a new look and features is significant. The use of chromium for the edge is the most suitable decision. Moreover, you can have a good browsing experience without any disturbance. So, no doubt that Microsoft’s new edge is worth trying.
